Iran: Faces of Anger is an immersion into the behind-the-scenes of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising. A few weeks after the death of Mahsa Amini in September 2022, Iranian filmmaker Shooresh Afkari contacts his French counterpart, Virginie Plaut. He wants “to fight in his own way, by filming and bearing witness to the history unfolding before his eyes.’’ This film is the intimate diary of a shoot carried out clandestinely over 18 months across Iran, meeting a vivid gallery of characters who represent a population exhausted by repression and pushed to the limits of its strength and patience.
